i'll prolly at least start hanging-out in class next week.
so saturday at 9pm, the most recent UFC is showing(live?)on spike tv. you doods
wanna come out to the warehouse and hang-out?
p.s. livejournal is cluttery, unorganized, uselessness.

so, i'm gonna go to the seminar on Saturday in Terre Haute....the first one is Kali, and the second is NHB stuff.
i'd really like to get some stickwork in, and i know Matt E. has some experience...if you guys could get him in contact with me, i'd like to work with him for 15 minutes or something...

hey, hiking saturday or sunday?...anyone?
|Wednesday, February 9th, 2005|
So the big cd-burner is busy with some other project, and i couldn't get started on the NHB DVDs....so i took one of them home and watched it.
when these are done, i highly recommend buying one!
we've done a lot of the stuff in class already, but just watching the way these experienced guys practice it is enlightening. pummelling?! we are huge dorks the way we do it! and some of their postition flow exercises are really intelligent.
so yeah, a very good addition to our training!

kung fu movies
it looks pretty goofy, but the star of the movie does some Muay Thai....lots of knees to doods chests in the trailer.
it might be one of those ones we grab on DVD anyway, 'cause it doesn't look like there are any Indiana showings...
(that's weird...even though b-town has got an insane amount of martial arts, it seems weird to think of "indiana" and "kung fu" at the same time.)
p.s. i keep listening to the soundtrack of the website.... i think i want to start a band that crosses that kinda stuff w/ a very raw, punk edge... did oingo boingo already do that? more punk than stoopid danny elfman.

being late and weekend plans
i have a recording tonight that is scheduled until 5:30p...so i might not make it to kung fu until 6:45 or so...we'll see.
also, i think i'm goin' hiking in the Deam/Monroe area this saturday w/co-worker...prolly mid-day or early afternoon...if anybody wants to join.

sparky Current Mood: excited
Dwight has Returned.
I just talked to Dwight, and he suggested that we have class earlier on sun, if everyone can, and is interisted. He also said he had our certificates. It seemed like he had alot of fun in NY, and is excited to get back into class.
Anyway, give me a call if you read this. I'll be trying to get ahold of all of you today.

Ok. I would like to go rock climbing on Tue. Night... both Joe, and Matt said they might prefer to do some grapling, and pummeling. easily decided. let's put it to a vote. I vote for climbing. I plan on getting off work around 4:00 or 4:30. to go... or if we graple, i'll probably just come home and dink around.
anyway, let me know what you guys want to do.

It's been too long since I grappled. After last night I am popping and craking all over.

just a thread for ideas on cardio/training field trips(?...i guess...)
y'know, getting together once-a-month or randomly, and doing something different/fun/etc with the purpose of it being a little exercise for the ol' heart.
TRAIL-RUNNING: scouting some trails appropriate for running and making a morning/afternoon of it.
SWIMMING: this would be more fun in a lake or something for me, but a pool is fine if yr weird about murky lakes.
CANOEING: trent mentioned this last night...but yeah, rowing or something.
ROCK-CLIMBING: i'm not sure how much cardio this would involve, but it would be exercise.
has anybody checked out some of the links from http://www.martialconcepts.com/
i was lookin' through http://www.realfighting.com/
and it's pretty cool.
RealFighing.com is basically and online magazine, i guess.
it's kinda hard to navigate to anything specific, since the articles are organized by Author or Interviewee; and i'm not familiar with the current names in the area so it's a bit of a pain at times.
there are some how-to's, interviews, essays, whathaveyou...check it out and post a link if you find anything on there you think any of us might want to read.
